Nayumbime 45 km SE of Sucua (by air) ea. 2°43'S, 77°38'W. Undulating terrain, reddish clay soils. Elev. ca. 300 m. Along trail 100m S of Don Luis Najamte's house on path to river. Herb to 30cm, flower with fimbriate petals, sap clear. N.V.: ararats (Shuar) Principal interest: used against snake-bites. About icc. of juice mixed with water and taken orally once or twice; this must be done soon after being bit- ten. Said to prevent serious complications such as intestinal hemorrhaging, altered mental status. To keep preparation on hand: four plants are boiled in 1 liter of water down to 1/4 volume. C. F.
