Tkallus gelatinous, indefinite, verrucose-tuberculose, green in late sum-
mer, in September had acquired a reddish color on surface; cells 10—15
mik. in diameter, tegument thick, colorless, hyaline; cytoplasm orange
(aurantiacus) but more often green.

On submerged rocks and pebbles in slow current.

Minnehaha creek, Soldiers’ Home, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The above species differs from Rabenhorst’s specimen, no. 1778, in contain-
ing calcium carbonate in quantity. It is accompanied by filaments which much
resemble Stigeoclonium in its transition stage.
