Description
Catkin past flowering of Salix sp. based on S. A. Mori & C. A. Gracie 28003 from the Zofnas Family Preserve/Westchester Wilderness Walk, Weschester Co., New York. The catkins are spreading (not pendent like most catkin-bearing plants). Reports indicate that species of Salix are insect pollinated. The black scales and long trichomes ( = hairs) are visible in this image.
