    Distribution (from PLANTAE): This family occurs in tropical and subtropical moist lowland forests, often along rivers. Trigonia, the largest genus, is widespread in tropical America. The monotypic genus Humbertiodendron is confined to Madagascar, and the likewise monotypic genus Trigoniastrum occurs in the Malay peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo.
