Description: Shrub or tree, 1-4 m tall. Young stems terete to quadrangular, the surface glabrous to puberulent, trichomes stipitate-stellate, internodes longitudinal ridges absent, nodal line absent. Leaves isophyllous, petiole 3-13 cm long, the surface glabrous to puberulent, trichomes stipitate-stellate, the blade 4.5-8.2 x 1.5-3.5 cm, lanceolate, chartaceous, the apex attenuate, the base acute, the margin minutely and sparsely serrulate; secondary veins 2 pairs including faint marginals, plinerved, diverging 2-4 mm above the base, symmetrical; tertiary veins percurrent, branched, areoles 0.5-1.9 mm wide, adaxial surface deep green, smooth, slightly rugose, glabrous, midvein raised with occasional sparse pubescence, and secondaries flat. Abaxial surface glabrous, veins raised and pubescent with short densely roughened hairs. Inflorescences a terminal panicle, 4.3-8.1 cm long; peduncles rectangular, reddish, pubescent, trichomes stipitate -stellate. Bracts lanceolate and persistent, 0.7-2 x 0.3-0.4 mm; bracteoles lanceolate and persistent, 0.8-2.1 x 0.4-1 mm. Flowers 4-merous, diplostemonous, sessile. Hypanthium 2-2.9 mm long, campanulate, 2-3.3 mm wide at the torus, external surface glabrous, internal surface glabrous, androecial fringe absent. Calyx open in bud, the tube 0.4-0.5 mm long at anthesis, the lobes 0.7-1 x 1.1-2.5 mm, broadly deltoid, glabrous; calyx teeth broadly deltoid, 0.4-1.2 x 0.3-0.8 mm, glabrous. Petals-4, broadly obovate, white at anthesis, 3-3.2 x 2.1-2.2 mm, glabrous, the apex obtuse, the base truncate, the margin entire. Stamens, isomorphic, filament 1.6-3.2 mm long, glabrous; anthers with 2 locules, thecae 1.6-2.4 x 0.6-0.8 mm, straight, opening by 1 upright minute, 0.1-0.2 mm pore, connective not prolonged below the thecae, glabrous. Ovary 4-locular, completely inferior, spherical, ridged, somewhat prolonged into 8 deep ribs, glabrous, the apex absent a corona; style 6.8-8 mm long, glabrous; stigma punctiform to slightly capitate, 0.2-0.5 mm wide, glandular at the apex. Berries 3.2-4.8 x 3.1-3.7 mm, glabrous, globose, calyx persistent.
