Nomenclature remarks: Name orthography and authors from Tropicos, 2008. According to Tropicos and Mitten Indices, Mem. New York Bot. Gard. v. 68, this name is illegitimate; it is a later homonym (Art. 64.1). Mitten Indices indicate Stereodon contiguus Mitt. as the new name.
