Description: Epiphytic herb, to ca. 50 cm, often forming large and dense populations. Pseudobulbs ovoid to conic-ovoid, deeply ridged, bifoliate; leaves ligulate-lanceolate, 30-50 x 1.5-2.5 cm. Inflorescence an erect, solitary, pink to tan colored flower, the pedicel subequal to the leaf blade; dorsal and lateral sepals similar, obovate, 3-4 x 1-2 cm, the apex acuminate; lateral petals unguiculate, lanceolate, 1.5-2 x 0.5 cm, the apex with a metallic blue "eye-like" marking, acute; lip circular, 0.8-1 cm long, the apex reflexed; column 4-6 cm long; pollinia 4, waxy; ovary conspicuous, 4-7 cm long.

Distribution: Mexico to Ecuador and Venezuela from 0 to 900 m.
Ecology: In moist to wet forests. This species is also commonly associated with mangrove habitats.
Phenology: Flowers observed from Jan to Apr, Jun, Sep, Oct, and Dec.
