It was assumed that the collection must have been made somewhere between the river and the next major landmark along the route, a right turn from BA-001 onto BR-30. Therefore georeferenced to the point along the route connecting the city of Itacaré to the city of Barra Grande, BA-654 to BA-001 to BR-30, that is closest to the midpoint of the section of that route stretching from the north shore of the Rio de Contas to the intersection between BA-001 and BR-30, in Mun. Itacaré, Bahia. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the city of Itacaré, the city of Barra Grande (-13.8912445 -38.9408684), the sequence of major roads which connect the two cities (BA-654 to BA-001 to BR-30), the river "Rio de Contas", and the place where this route crosses the river "Rio de Contas". Beginning at the point where BA-001 has just crossed the Rio de Contas heading N (-14.2916841 -39.0528613), used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line to the center of the intersection between BA-001 and BR-30 (-14.227558 -39.0935478), then halved that distance to approximate the location of the geographic midpoint. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find coordinates for the point along BA-001 closest to this midpoint. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of this section of road, 4554.28 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: River, stream, road, path).
