  • Description

    Palm 9.5 m. tall, solitary, dbh 25 cm., 10 contemporaneoous leaves, arranged in a 2-ranked series, pinnate, in aggregations of 1-5 pinnae. Leaf sheath olive grey 65 cm. long, petiole 30 cm. long, rachis 3.6 m. long. Pinnae: apical LxW=ca 50 x 2 cm. middle LxW=104 x 67 cm., basal LxW=77 x 2.5 cm.. Prophyll LxW=70 x 17, bract LxW = 145 x 9.5 cm. Rachis from base to bract scar 6 cm long, rest of 1° axis 57 cm. long, rachiallae 129, apical ca. 60 cm. long, middle and basal ca. 92 cm. long, 145-158 pistillate flowers per rachilla. Another inflorescence from same trree, rachillae 124, 56-88 cm. long. Second tree has staminate flowers very frqgrant with reddish pollen and scales on rachillae. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
