On gentle northwest-facing slope. With Garrya, Acacia, Dasylirion, Celtis & Quercus nearby. In rocky (igneous & quartzite) soil.

Description
Perennials to 50 cm tall; caudex leaves dentate, to 15 mm wide, with relatively coarse, mostly 3- to 4-rayed hairs; lower stems with short-stalked, largely 2-rayed trichomes; petals whitish, quickly turning lavender, to 7 mm long; pollen narrowly ellipsoid; pedicels spreading, usually glabrous, to 20 mm long; seeds uniseriate. Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower, Fruit.
