    In dappled shade at top of steep south-facing grassy slope. In edge of mixed evergreen forest with Pinus pon derosa and a holly-leaved Quercus. Associated species: Ceanoths, Rhus diversiloba, Berberis, Achillea, Carex multicaulis, Bromus tectorum, Vulpia microstachys, Cynosurus, Artemisia, Brodeia, Lupinus. [Animals:] Flicker, robin, wrentit, black bear.
