Climbing bamboo forming dense clumps up to 12 m height.
Culms thin, ca. 1 cm in diameter, solid and flexible.
Culm sheaths persistent or late deciduous with blade
first horizontal or curved upright and then bent down-
wards. With dense, long, curly oral setae, decurrent
along the edges of the sheath. Nodes with a ring of gol-
den, silky hairs. Branch complement with several thin
branches and one main, longer branch. Initiation of buds
is iniravaginal. Abundant throughout the forest, in some
places in association with other bamboo, Merostachys sp.
