Extensive areas of Baccharis woodlands over ancient glacial terraces in the valley. Other small trees include Gynoxys and Miconia. Amongst boulders of riverbed.

1 m high bushy shrub. Flowers deep purple with yellow centers. Fruit green. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
