Description
Stem massive, solitary, 15 m tall, 20 cm diam at apex, densely covered with rings of spines. Leaves 12; petiole and sheath 3.3 m long, densely covered with yellowish brown spines; rachis ca 4 m long; pinnae clustered and in several planes. Inflorescences interfoliar; peduncle 120 cm long; scar of peduncular bract at apex of peduncle; pistillate flowers 2-3 at base of each rachillae, stigmas very large; staminate flowers purple.
