Description
Robust, to about 1 m. tall; stems green, sometimes marked with purple; spines brown-orange. Note minimal damage by Epitrix (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae). Flowers with faint unpleasant "fishy" smell; corolla reflexed (bumblebees visit only flowers in this condition), white with yellow glossy star-shaped center, slightly tinged with blue on outside; anthers bright yellow, free. Style bent outwards, pale yellow green with darker green stigma. Fruit still green. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
