    United States of America. California. Los Angeles Co. San Gabriel Mountains. Ball Flat: 1500 m due N of Jackson Lake, between the Boulder Canyon and Mescal Creek drainages.

  • Habitat

    Heavily disturbed site currently used for refuse disposal. A few taxa apparently introduced by the forest service (Pinus coulteri, Cupressus arizonica, Calocedrus decurrens). Native vegetation appears to have been pinyon woodland (Pinus monophylla) and desert transition chaparral (Quercus john-tuckeri, Ceanothus greggii vestitus, Fremontodendron californicum, Yucca whipplei, Artemisia tridentata, Cercocarpus betuloides, Stipa speciosa, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Ericameria linearifolia, Eriodictyon trichocalyx, Eriastrum densifolium, etc. Locally uncommon.

    Herbaceous perennial of somewhat sprawling habit; herbage grayish with fairly dense pubescence of simple trichomes; fruits greenish, to ca. 15 mm diameter. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
