Habitat
Lowland moist forest on steep slope, dominated by bamboo.

Description
Stems clustered, climbing, to 5m tall, slender and 1cm diameter. Sheaths brown with spines to 0.5 cm long; knee present; ocrea to 4 cm long; flagellum present, to 60cm long; petiole and rachis densely red-brown tomentose; pinnae 6 per side of rachis, regularly and distantly spaced, the apical pair joined for two-thirds their length, the basal pair swept back across the sheath. Inflorescences pistillate, not flagellate, with two partial inflorescences at the apex. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
