    Broad pumice flat surrounded by Pinus contorta forest. Soft deep pumice soil devoid of shrubs, supporting low dwarfed perennials. Dominated by Lupinus breweri, with Calyptridium umbellatum, Raillardella argentea, Eriophyllum lanatum, Chaenactis douglasii. Abundant, dominant across this flat. Thousands of individuals tinting the landscape lavendar. Some rare white flowered individuals.
