  • Habitat

    Low, open canopy ridgetop cloud forest. Ridge-top cloud forest; Low canopy (4-6 m). Heavy rainfall (400+ in/yr); vegetation dominated by small trees and shrubs (Pandanus patina, Glochidion, Garcinia) covered in epiphytic ferns and mosses; very shallow soil.

  • Description

    Small tree to 4 m. Common in cloudforest and on slopes below. Flowers orange, 0.5 cm, remain partially closed, on racemes. Leaves compund (oddly pinnate with 7-9 leaflets); short, fine orange/red hairs along stems and leaf midribs; fruits 4-5 cm long, oblong covered in red/oranage hairs.
