Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the nearest point on land to Kaieteur Falls located along the Potaro River in Potaro-Siparuni Region, Guyana. Used Google Maps - Terrain and Earth Views to locate Kaieteur Falls. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find coordinates of the land nearest to the approximate geographic center of Kaieteur Falls (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent by measuring from selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the waterfall (extended further to incorporate all locations where collection may have occurred nearby the waterfall). Input coordinate source (locality description), coordinates, coordinate precision (.00001 degrees), datum (WGS84), extent of named place (418.45 m), and measurement error (10 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Bounded Area).
