United States of America. Wisconsin. Polk Co. Village of Balsam Lake-south side of U.S. Highway 8, 0.3 mile west of its jct. with WI Highway 46 north, 4 miles due south of Balsam Lake, 9 miles due east of St. Croix Falls.

Habitat
Open grassy roadside; full sun. Assoc.: Poa pratensis (dominant), with Achillea millefolium ssp. lanulosa, Erigeron strigosus, Fragaria virginiana, Helianthus strumosus, Pteridium aquilinum var. latiusculum, Rudbeckia hirta var. pulcherrima, Trifolium pratense, & Veronicastrum virginicum. Locally common here and there; 6 small colonies along 3-mi.-stretch of Highway 8 between Highway 46N and Deer Lake. Sandy loam soil.

Description
Sts. branched; lvs. chartaceous; cor. white w/narrow red-violet lines on floor, abruptly and strongly inflated at throat; anths. purplish-black. Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower.
