  • Description

    Solitary palm. Stem to 12m tall, dbh 25cm, at ground level greatly swollen, at the tip to 15cm diam; internodes close, the scars rather irregular. Crown of ca. 13 arcuate leaves arranged in a spiral; crownshaft not developed. Leaf base swollen, ca. 30cm wide at the base; petiole 1m, gradually tapering, coverd in reddish brown indumentum as the petiole; leaflets 56 on each side of the rachis, regularly arranged, arcuate, paremore, adaxially dull green. abaxially densely white indumentose, with abundant red-brown ramenta. Inflorescence in bud, ca. 70cm long; prophyll to 30cm; peduncular bract long exserted. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
