Ridgetop, montane forest with small crowns, rather disturbed.

Description
Solitary squat palm; trunk to 2m tall, ca. 50cm diameter including leaf bases. ca. 20cm diam. when bare, covered with marcescent leaf bases. Leaves about 10 in crown, robust, erect, and stiff; sheath somewhat swollen at the base; petiole 1.2m long, covered in rich brown scales, the petiole margines extremely sharp; rachis to 3m; leaflets dark green, very narrow, ca. 80 on each side. Inflorescence interfoliar, solitary, hidden among the leaf bases, pistillate, to 35cm long; flowers just past anthesis, cream-coloured, slightly must scent. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
