    Dry hillside, primary forest with much Ravenala, rather open canopy, and much Schizstachyum parviflorum.

  • Description

    Solitary palm to 6m tall; trunk 15cm diam., pale brown, scarcely ringed with scars. Leaves marcescent, c. 20 green leaves in crown, spreading. Leaves c. 3.2m long; sheaths bright green, smooth, scarcely auricled, but reins continusing as a broad band. 61 regularly arranged leaflets on each side of the rachis, leaves tending to be on edge. Inflorescence erect, interfoliar, to 1.2m long; peduncle 60cm, green, densely covered in red brown tomentum, branching to 2 orders; c. 15 first order branches; young flowers green. Young fruit green.
