Coastal forest; peatswamp forest developed in hollows between white sand bars.

Description
Colonial palm. Stems to 3m tall, ca. 4cm diam., grey brown towards the base, green distally. Leaves ca. 9 in the crown; crownshaft 30cm, yellowish green with brown scales. Leaf to 70cm, entire or irregularly pinnate, this one regularly pinnate. Inflorescence in bud interfoliar, branching to 2 orders; rachillae green, pendulous; fruit with endosperm superficially grooved.
