    Broad sand flat of coarse pumice soil, bordered by Pinus jeffreyi forest on south, Artemisia tridentata scrub on north, with few shrubs on flat. With Calyptridium umbellatum, Lupinus duranii, Chrysothamnus parryi, Gayophytum diffusum, Elymus elymoides, Mimulus mephiticus, Achnatherum occidentalis. Occasional but widespread across flat.
