Savanna-land hillsides just below the pine zone.

Description
Arborescent shrub, 0.6-5 m. tall, with stems up to nearly 1 dm. thick. Heads sunflower-yellow, with mostly 13-17 9often 13) rays. Peduncles hollow distally, slightly inflated. Ray achenes sterile, epappose. Disk achenes hairy, with a pappus of 2 awns and several shorter, firm scales that are connate below and lacerate above. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
