Allied to B. ruralis, but differs in the capsule being very much longer |
and cylindrical, at least twice the length of the conic operculum, the- 1
peristome shorter than the tubulose base and calyplra very much j
prolonged below the capsule, the middle leaves more distant, the upper 1
leaves snbacute not1 emarginate 01* rounded at the apex, and rather 1
acute ; the hair-point is red at the ba-e, and the leaf-base narrowly |
01* not margined, with pale-jmllow cells.
On rocks, Cypress Hills, Alberta; common on rocks at Revel- 1
stoke on the Columbia River, at Deer Park, Lower Arrow Lake, I
and Sproat at Pass Creek ; on rocks at Sieamous and Yale, B.C. f 1
very common on rocks at Yictoria, Comox and other places on Yan- 1
couver Island. (Macouri.) It exists also as a variety with a smaller
