In primary community of dune margin. With Balsamorhiza, Elymus, Poa, Psoralea, Purshia, Abronia and Prunus. In stabilized sands, deep over basalt.

"Infested with insects". Phenology of specimen: Fertile.

"This is the only site along this margin of the dune system where this species was found entering a primary community. It is more frequent on the private lands south of the dune system."
