With Petrophytum, Pinus flexilis, Picea engelmannii, Ribes. Locally common near top of mountain.

Description
Needles short coming form all around the stem, cones prickly, new growth just beginning, bark blackish with some orange tinge showing through, 10 m. tall, 1 m. d.b.h. Sample part: LF TW, ST, BK, RT, CO. NCI Code 0GDK0383-X-C. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
