Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the closest forested area to 15 km (average of 10 km and 20 km) south along BR-101 from the center of the city of Sao Mateus, in Mun. Sao Mateus, Espírito Santo. Using Google Maps - Text Search and Satellite View, located and visualized the city of Sao Mateus, and Road BR-101. Beginning at the point along BR-101 closest to the approximate geographic center of Sao Mateus (-18.723332, -39.860876), used Google Maps - Measure Distance tool to measure approximately 15 km (15.0000 km) south along BR-101. Using Google Maps - What's Here tool, found coordinates (final) for the closest forested area to the offset along this road. Using Measure Distance tool again, found the linear extent of the starting location of the offset, the city of Sao Mateus, by measuring a straight line from the selected starting coordinates along BR-101 (-18.723332, -39.860876) to the farthest extent of BR-101 within the city limits of Sao Mateus (which are visible when Sao Mateus is searched for in Google Maps) (-18.760345, -39.863258). Input linear extent (4.1240 km), coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), datum (WGS84), distance precision (10 km) and measurement error (0.0005 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Best Practices Guide, Offset: Offset along a path).
