On disturbed edge of Ponderosa pine stand. With Ceanothus, Artemisia, and Purshia. Common. Red-brown soil, pH ca. 6.0.

Description
Corollas pale to dark red-violet or blue violet, lobes dark blue, tube base dark violet, abaxial side of throat paler, with 2 weak white ridges; anthers black, white along sutures; nectar sweetly fragrant; leaves white glaucous. Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower.
