Habitat
Dry, acid, now ungrazed upper parts of Cambrian sandstone cliff; common in places under Pinus resinosa. Pinus strobus, P. resinosa, Acer saccharum, Ledum groenlandicum(!), Gaultheria procumbens, Aster macrophyllus, Danthonia spicata, Maianthemum canadense, and Dicranella heteromalla.
