Habitat
In canyon near base of cliff, seepy west-facing slope. With Populus, Rhamnus betulaefolia var. obovata, Shepherdia, Pinus edulis, Amelanchier, Ephedra, Opuntia, Arctostaphylos, Stanleya, Asclepias, Penstemon, Salix exigua. In red sandy soil.

Occasional suffrutescent, leaves green, flowers red. Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower, Fruit.
