Mexico. Puebla. Tehuacán valley, limestone hills 1.4 mi NE (by road) of Copan and 9 mi SE (by road) of Tehuacán on hwy 125 to Huajuapán de Leon.

Habitat
Stunted Matorral Desertico with Agave stricta, Pedilanthus cymbiferius, Jatropha dioica, Opuntia spp. Echinocactus grandis, and Ferrocactus robustus with Beaucarnea gracilis and Yucca pericosa in the ravines.

Description
shrub, to 1.5 m. x 3 cm. Shrubs to 1.5 m tall, woody stems to 3 cm at base; new twigs +/- 1 cm diam.; bark reddish-brown to red-gray, smooth except for the persistant spine pedicels; flowers white; anthers creamy; male, female and immature fruit present. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
