Habitat
N exposure, 40% slope. Small willow-dominated streambottom with subalpine fir, snowberry and subalpine big sagebrush on adjacent upland slopes; growing with Abies lasiocarpa, Symphoricarpos oreophilus, Salix lemmonii, S. scouleriana, S. lasiandra var. caudata and Populus trichocarpa. Rocky granitic soil.

Plants 2 m tall, one 3x5 m male clump only - no females seen in area. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
