    Brazil. Bahia. Ruy Barbosa Mun. 8.5 km from Rui Barbosa along right side of old road going via Povoado Alagoas to Itaberaba.

  • Habitat

    Dense, tall, partly deciduous seasonal forest with Cactaceae, Syagrus coronata, Bombacaceae, Tillandsia, and other terrestrial and epiphytic bromeliads. Many species wilted due to stress.

  • Description

    Treelets 0.5-3 m tall, mostly ca. 1 m, flowering at all heights, unbranched or few-branched, to 2 cm dbh. Corolla and calyx creamy white, anthers green. Recent fruit green, old fruit brown. Exceedingly common in understory. Most individuals with flowers, though none freshly open. Many buds still present, but plants apparently flowering for quite awhile. Few fruits from this blooming period. One plant with extremely large 3-foliate leaves collected. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
