    Brazil. Bahia. Maraú Mun. 5.5 km S of Maraú and ca. 15 km from the seashore.

  • Habitat

    Abundant in patches of forest in "campos" region; forest very rich in "piacaba" palm (Attalea funifera). Soil very sandy and white.

  • Description

    Most of the bamboo finishing flowering and dying up but still a few fresh flowers and new culms found. Culms solid, up to 1.3 cm diam., interndodes at low and middle part of plant long, up to 97 cm. Culms naked, a few rotten culm sheaths seen. Culm leaves with blade not developed, only a mucro. Inflorescence large, perfect sphere hanging at end of leaf complement and also at nodes up to base of plant. Stamens yellow, turning to orange-copper and dark brown color.
