Herb 1.5-3 m, leaf arrangement musoid, leaf blade maroon-tinged coating below, inflorescence erect/distichous, bracts 16, lower bracts red with yellow tip, in upper bracts only the yellow part visible, rachis red, sepals cream, ovary white, pedicel white. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
