On hillside of scattered lava blocks. Sagebrush-juniper association.

Description
Low mats with decumbent, ascending, or ascending-erect stems; flowers not at all secund, glandular within (moth pollinated?), rose-purple, only a few lavender-purple, very, very few pale bluish lavender; limb very prominent as in ssp. hians, star-shaped, the long lobes spreading about equally, the tube and throat relatively short. Phenology of specimen: Fertile, Flower.
