Premontane wet forest on steep slopes, logging trail, quebradas and forest; along quebradas. Locally common.

Description
Large shrub, 3 m; trichomes suffused with red; peduncles, abaxial surface of leaf veins and formicaria magenta; calyx tube red, the lobes green suffused with magenta, the glands dark green; filaments and connectives magenta, the thecae bright yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
