    tree. Tree 12m tall, 20cm in diameter. Sap milky. Inflorescence yellow-green; flowers fragrant; corolla white.

    Characteristically harboring huge (10cm long) caterpillars with striking yellow-green and black stripes and bright red-orange head, tail and feet; this insect also attacks the cultivated Plumeria rubra, but is not harmful to humans.

Rolling, unconsolidated sandy soil, weathered
reddish, with savanna-like subtropical
forest, Protium heptaphyllum, Simarouba
amara, Ficus caballina, Didymopanax
morototoni, Dipteryx alata.
"suchi de monte" ["suchi" refers to the cul-
tivated Plumeria rubra, see no. 37000]. Tree
12 m. tall, 20 cm. in diameter. Sap milky.
Inflorescence yellow-green; flowers fragrant;
corolla white. Characteristically harboring
huge (10 cm. long) caterpillars with striking
yellow-green and black stripes and bright
red-orange head, tail and feet; this insect
also attacks the cultivated Plumeria rubra,
but is not harmful to humans. See no. 35859
collected here in fruit on Aug. 30, 1987 but
probably not the same tree.
