WHITE MOUNTAINS: canyon slopes near west base of Westgard Pass just north of highway
168, 2.2 air miles due north of Uhlmeyer Spring, 3.7 air miles SI 1°W of Black Mountain
summit, Owens Valley watershed. Locally abundant in desert areas. On Psorothamnus
arborescens minutifolius (the prevalent but not exclusive host in the area), mixed calcareous
alluvial gravel sloping 15°SSE in mixed desert shrubland, with Ambrosia salsola, Atriplex
canescens, Atriplex polycarpa, Atriplex confertifolia, Eriogonum fasciculatum polifolium,
Eriogonum inflatum, Lycium andersonii, Chaenactis stevioides, Chorizanthe brevicornu, etc.
Stems bright orange, fading brownish in flower, petals acuminate, white, scales fringed.
ELEVATION 4555 ft (1388 m). 37.21418°N 118.23814°W (±5m), WGS84 datum.
