Floricanes to ca. 1.5 m. high, some to 2 m. long, erect,
arching above but never touching the ground nor rooting at
the tips, coppery above, often with some glaucousness.
Primocanes to 1 m. high. Leaves whitened beneath. Voucher
for wood specimens at Kw, Lw* MADw, MEXlJw, RSAw,
from floricanes, to 0.7 cm. in diameter, no growth rings
visible but this is the second and final year for stems; when
dry, the bark thinly papery, readily falling along with the
delicate prickles; pith very pale tan.
