Upland forest with Pinus, Juniperus virginianci, Querem.
Sassafras albidum, Camus florida. Ulmus alata, Rhamnus
carotiniana.
Edge of road where small openings, not in the shade of
forest understory. Shrub 2 m. tall. 3.5 cm. in diameter,
perhaps 14 years old but rings vety difficult to count, much
branched abofo into fine upright branefes; bark exfoliating
in brown paper)' plates. Voucher for wood specimens at
Kw, Lw, MADw, RSAw. A very few yellow' flowers.
