Habitat: Alpine grassland/heathland, mix of *Poa* tussocks
and low shrubs. Margin of track on moderate slope.
Associated taxa: *Festuca rubra* (NGK 1259), *Agrostis* sp.,
*Hovea montana*, *Ozothamnus cupressoides*, *Hypochaeris*
*radicata*, *Olearia phlogopappa*.
Descriptive notes: Small, gracile grass forming a dense,
luxuriant sward. Leaves blue-green. Culms erect, to 20 cm
tall, purplish-red. Spikelets purplish.
Collecting notes: Common.
