Soc. ‘Vanamo’ 32(1): 46. 1961, ! Teuvo Ahti, 1964; probably not distinct from C. confusa Sant, in Ark. f. Bot. 30A(10) : 13. 1942. ECUADOR. GALAPAGOS ISLANDS. ISLA SANTA CRUZ (Indefatigable I.): moist ledges and depressions on summit rim of highest point of island (Mt. Crocker), ca. 2000 ft. alt., due north of Academy Bay. It differs from No. 106, C. polia, in having usnic acid, becoming gray at tips. Plants are tough and not nearly as brittle when dry, and are easily separated when wet without breaking the stems.
