Montane coniferous ferest, open canopy. Northwest-facing
slope. Growing next to dirt road. Some trees have Forest
Service tags from 1998, "Tree improvement" and "Selected
dree for genetics". Substrate mostly pine duff, some ‘
decomposed granite, and loam, silt, and sand. Common.
5 needles per fascicle
Associated species: Chrysolepis sempervirens,
Arctostaphyfos patula, Abies magnifica var. aitchfieldii,
Peastemon sp.
