LOUIS COUNTY, MINNESOTA, U.S.A. Chara braunii C.C. Gmel. Characeae 30 miles southeast of International Falls. Voyageurs National Park. Growing in eastern Kabetogama Lake (ID 69084500), a 24,000 acre, eutrophic, polymictic basin situated in rolling terrain. Part of the Namakan Reservoir system. About 0.7 miles west of Namakan Lake. Individuals growing on the southern side of an island that offers partial protection from waves. Fully submerged; occasional on a small section of gradually sloping bedrock that accumulated sand and gravel between submerged boulders. Water depth: 15-45 cm. Associates: Ranunculus flammula, Najas flexilis, Potamogeton spirillus, Crassula aquatica, Persicaria amphibia, Glyceria borealis, Eleocharis acicularis.
