Along the Rio Calachaca Jahuira in the area within 1 km in
radius from the aguas termales. 8 km NW from Choquetanga.

Treeland and grassland habitats at treeline. Woodlands
consist of *Hesperomeles*, *Miconia*, *Barnadesia*, *Baccharis*,
etc. Extensive bogs present, and mosses in extensive sheets
over bare cliffs. Boulders are mostly granitical. Epiphytes on
scattered trees along the river. The trees are mostly *Hesperomeles* and
*Myrsine*, to 5 m high with moss cover 20-70%. Trees are in the open but
effected by humidity from the river. Large cushions are common on *Myrsine*
twigs. Ca. 3480 m.
